If you enjoy going out dancing, there’s a good chance you’ve seen one particular couple that’s so good you can’t turn your eyes away. Sometimes, those individuals have some kind of dance experience in their background. Other times, they’ve performed that same dance so many times that they almost look like pros.
What about improv?
Knowing the steps of a particular dance is one thing but getting on the dance floor to do an improv performance is entirely different. Even rarer is when a couple can dance on the fly and still look amazing. Well, that’s what happened when a man and woman hit the dance floor at the Capital Swing competition.
Meet the dancers
This couple, Sean McKeever and Jessica Cox are downright incredible. Although they did an improv performance, you’d never know it. They were so good as dance partners that they went on to take first place.
The video went viral
After uploading the video of this competition, it didn’t take long for it to go viral. Sure, there are a lot of these videos online. But when one garners more than 8.8 million views, you know it’s extraordinary and in a league of its own.
A perfect pair
As individuals, Sean and Jessica have been in a lot of competitions but with other partners like Nicole Clonch and Ben Morris. But putting these two together turned into something magical. Their chemistry is undeniable.
The way it works
For this competition, couples aren’t paired up with one another. Instead, the announcer calls out random names and that’s who has to perform together. So, without having practice, they have to come up with an improv dance all while hoping it’s good enough to get them to first place.
Meeting in the middle
After hearing their names called, McKeever and Cox made their way to the middle of the dance floor. Now, there’s a good chance these two have been partners before but not in this particular way. But with smiles on their faces, you can tell they felt confident.
Fantastic moves
As soon as the Mark Ronson song, “Uptown Funk” starts to play, these two began to show off their amazing moves. Between the twirls, spins, and twists, they captured everyone’s attention.
We’re sure as the other dancers looked on, they felt their hearts drop knowing they were facing some fierce competition.
Odd choice of music
You wouldn’t necessarily think of this song as being a good choice for a swing dance. But this couple is so flawless and smooth, they can probably swing to anything. They’re that good.
Playing it up
We have no idea if these two like each other in real life. But when on the dance floor, you can’t help but notice some flirtation going on. They both play things up as they do their routine directly in front of the judge’s table.
They nailed it
From start to finish, McKeever and Cox nailed every step of their dance. Whether dancing together or doing individual moves, they were better than anyone imagined. Fast, articulate, and polished … this couple is a joy to watch.
